There are two Carver High Schools in the state of Alabama and both turn out great talent year after year. This year the Montgomery team, not the Birmingham squad, turned out a 5-star linebacker that has captured the attention of college coaches nationwide. That stud linebacker, Lyndell “Mack” Wilson narrowed down his list of some 20 scholarship offers down to three on Dec. 26.

The Wolverines put their 6’1”, 235 pound, defensive playmaker out there as a junior seeing him come up with 71 tackles, seven sacks, five forced fumbles, and two interceptions. In 2014, Carver went 9-4 and Wilson racked up 74 tackles, nine tackles for a loss, 6.5 sacks, and nine quarterback hurries. Wilson also had two interceptions, one forced fumble, and three pass defended in nine games played.

Wilson exploded during his senior season coming up with 115 stops, 18 tackles for a loss, five sacks, one fumble recovery, four forced fumbles, and three pass defended. Some of the top teams after Wilson’s services at the collegiate level included UCLA, USC, Ole Miss, Michigan, LSU, Kentucky, Clemson, Miami, Oregon, Ohio State, South Carolina, Arizona, Tennessee, and Mississippi State.

A lot of hopeful hearts were broken the day after Christmas when Wilson tweeted out his Top 3 listing Alabama, Florida, and Georgia.

Florida has been a leader for the USA Today All-American since early December. Wilson has three official visits scheduled leading up to National Signing Day before making a final decision. Georgia gets the first shot at him on Jan. 15, followed by Alabama on Jan. 22, and then Florida on Jan. 29.
