The Trojans 2017 recruiting class swapped some spots over the last couple of days picking up four-star Bishop Gorman safety on Saturday but lost three-star wide receiver Marlon Williams on Tuesday.
Williams worked his way into becoming a prominent recruit with McGill-Toolen High School. Over the past two seasons the Yellow Jackets have been one of the top teams not only in the state of Alabama but in the nation posting consecutive 13-1 records capturing a title in 2015 with a win 14-12 win over Spain Park and earned runner-up status against 7A competition in 2016 losing 17-7 to Hoover in the title game.
The Yellow Jackets utilized Williams at receiver getting a team-high 45 receptions for 545 yards with three scores during his junior season. Official stats have not been posted for the 2016 season, but the 6-0, 189 pound, target proved to be lethal in the vertical game outrunning defenders on go routes and too tough and physical on comeback routes for a corner to bring down without help.
Williams committed to the Trojans in January 2016 but opened his recruitment back up with new offers coming in from LSU in December and Tennessee on New Year’s Day. Other teams to extend a scholarship includes Ole Miss, Central Florida, N.C. State, South Alabama, Southern Miss, Troy, Cincinnati, and Missouri.
The Trojans are still on pace to have another standout recruiting class. The addition of Bolden gives USC six four-star recruits so far out of 16 verbal commits.
247Sports rates USC’s 2017 recruiting class No. 12 in the nation and No. 1 overall in the Pac-12.
