Utah picked up a junior college talent that should be ready to contribute from the get-go next season when 2017 Riverside talent Tareke Lewis committed to the Utes on Tuesday.

Lewis helped Riverside to the top of the CCCAA National Central Division with a 10-2 record winning the Southern California Bowl 49-38 before a tough 45-29 out in the SCFA Championship against Fullerton.  With stats posted through 11 games, Lewis had 16 tackles, seven passes broken up, and two interceptions during the 2016 season.

Colleges extending an offer to the 6-1, 170 pound, cover corner included Colorado State, Kansas State, Oregon State, Massachusetts, and Iowa State. The Utes made a lot of headway with Lewis after he named Maryland his leader in July. The Utes hosted Lewis for an official on Oct. 7. Lewis took an official to West Virginia on Dec. 2 committing to Utah before a scheduled official with the Terps on Jan. 13.

Utah fans found about their newest commitment via Twitter with Lewis posting, “Beyond blessed. #VerballyCommitted #GOUTES.”

247Sports rates Utah’s 2017 class No. 85 in the nation with eight recruits, No. 12 overall in the Pac-12. Rivals rates the Utes class No. 91 in the country.
