As the saying goes, speed kills and Centennial Class of 2017 defensive back Reggie Whitfield was slaying it on the California gridiron during the 2015 season. The Huskies were so loaded all over the field, the national powerhouse had eight players from the 2016 class sign with four-year programs. Despite having Camryn Bynum (Cal), Chacho Ulloa (Arizona), and Kentrell Love (Washington) in the secondary for Centennial, Whitfield made his mark as one of the leaders on defense coming up with 51 total tackles on the year.

Whitfield’s ability to cover ground and come up with stops was impressive but his seven interceptions and eight passes defended showcased the rare speed he possesses.  Whitfield always seems to be in the play and makes quarterbacks pay for throwing his way.

Centennial’s secondary will be loaded again even though the heavy losses to Division-I programs. The Huskies have in-coming corner Blake Jenkins, from Pasadena, and fellow 3-star corner Jaylan Shaw covering on the outside. Whitfield will once again be the leader back deep seeking to guide the Huskies to a third consecutive CIF Southern Section championship.

College coaches from all over the country will be on hand throughout the 2015 season hoping to persuade soon to be Centennial graduating talent to their respective campuses. Some of the teams showing interest in Whitfield includes Boise State, UNLV, Washington State, Colorado, USC, Nevada, and Utah.
