Another National Signing Day has come and gone with mixed reviews for teams and conferences across the country. The recruiting rankings are not the end all be all but the process does set a fair prediction of how each team will succeed going forward without some tremendous coaching efforts. Based on rankings alone, the SEC was once again the conference to beat pulling in the most talent in the country.
The SEC ended NSD with five teams ranked in the Top 10; No. 1 Alabama, No. 3 Georgia, No. 7 LSU, No. 8 Oklahoma, No. 9 Auburn, and No. 10 Florida. The Big Ten was the only other conference to notch two teams in the Top 10; No. 2 Ohio State and No. 5 Michigan. Round out the Top 25, the SEC and Pac-12 had four teams while the ACC and Big Ten had three each. The Big 12 only had Oklahoma in the Top 25 with Texas curiously sitting at No. 26 with 18 total commits that included seven 4-stars and 11 3-stars.
The following list is a breakdown of where the Power Five Conference teams stood the day before NSD and where they finished end of the day Feb. 1. The top line is each team’s status on Jan. 30 following their final ranking to provide an idea on how NSD closed out.
