The Huskies seemingly have a world of potential at every position up and down the roster. Centennial (Corona) posted a 14-1 mark in 2015 winning California’s Southern Section Championship before falling 28-21 to the 2015 MaxPrep’s crowned national champs De La Salle. Talent shined across the board throughout the season and one of the more versatile players for the Huskies up front on defense was Class of 2017 lineman Seleti Fevaleaki.
Fevaleaki started the season in the 6’2”, 265 pound range, but continued to add mass helping him anchor the line at defensive tackle and end. The now 6’2”, 280 pound, recruit ended the season in the neighborhood of 47 total tackles with at least two passes batted down, and one forced fumble.
Colleges are starting to come around on Fevaleaki with BYU having already extended an offer and teams like UCLA, Oregon, Texas A&M, Hawaii, Nevada, and Boise State all showing interest.
In a Recruiting News Guru exclusive interview, I got a few minutes of time with Fevaleaki before Centennial’s spring showcase going over his junior season, offseason workouts, and recruitment to date.
Interview
Seleti, how did last season go for you?
“It went pretty good. I started off great at defensive end and defensive tackle.”
At this point in your career what are you better at, stopping the run or rushing the passer?
“I think I’m balanced.”
How many tackles did you have last season?
“I think I had 47 total.”
What are you working on in the offseason?
“I’m working on speed and strength.”
Have you maxed out on bench, squat, or power clean this offseason?
“I’ve maxed out on bench and power clean. My bench is 295 and my power clean was 310.”
What camps are you going to this offseason?
“The All-Poly Camp (Utah). I don’t know about any others yet.”
You received an offer from BYU. How did that offer come in for you?
“The head coach texted me. One of our players went to BYU to visit and told them I wasn’t sure if I had an offer from them or not. He texted me to let me know I have the offer. I was surprised because I didn’t know.”
Are there any other schools showing interest in you right now?
“Yeah, Hawaii, Nevada, UCLA, Oregon, ASU (Arizona State), Texas A&M, Boise (State), and some more but I can’t think of them right now.”
How is everything going in the classroom?
“It is going great. I’m keeping up my grades.”
Have you taken the ACT or SAT yet?
“No, I haven’t taken either one yet.”
Do you play or participate in any other sports outside of football?
“I box.”
Seleti, thanks for your time today and good luck with the All-Poly camp.
