2017 Utah 3-Star ATH Tayler Katoa Commits to USC

The Trojans added an interesting player to their 2017 recruiting class on Thursday when they landed Utah three-star athlete Tayler Katoa. Katoa presents options for USC’s offense once he is on campus.
Katoa was the central piece in Layton High School’s 2017 ground attack rushing for 784 yards off 117 carries with 14 touchdowns in stats posted through eight games. The 6-2, 222, pound, athlete also was the main man for the Lancers at quarterback connecting on 21-of-55 passes for 299 yards with three additional touchdowns against three interception. Katoa also played defense for the Lancers as an outside linebacker/end.
Colleges up and down the west coast were clamoring for Katoa. Teams like UCLA, Utah, Boise State, Arizona State, BYU, Oregon State, UNLV, Washington State, and Washington all put offers on the table. On Nov. 12, Washington hosted Katoa on an official visit.
USC fans found out about their new commitment with a post on Twitter reading, “Decision made. USC Bound. Excited for the next chapter of my life. FIGHT ON.”
Katoa is the first commitment for the Trojans since Nov. 13 when San Clemente quarterback Jack Sears pledged.
Rivals ranks USC’s 2017 class No. 23 in the nation with eight four-star recruits and five three-star prospects. 247Sports has a higher appreciation of the group rating at No. 16 overall, No. 1 in the Pac-12.
