Class of 2019 receiver is the prototypical play-maker college football offensive coordinators, and quarterbacks, love. He has the ideal size at 6-4, 205 pounds, and speed to go with the big frame. He is also a gamer, also making an impact on the field. In six games played for JSerra Catholic High School during the 2017 season, McClain snagged 19 passes for 390 yards with four scores going up on the board. After surgery on his knee, McClain returned to action for the first time in 2018 in Week 4 for the Lions against visiting Pinnacle High School, the then- No. 2 ranked team in Arizona, winning 42-35. McClain clicked instantly with senior quarterback Caden Bell hauling in six passes for 97 yards with one touchdown.

In a Recruiting News Guru exclusive interview, I sat down the three-star 2019 USC receiver commit for his insight on the Pinnacle game with a look ahead to the Lions Week 5 showdown against visiting Faith Lutheran (NV).

Interview

Munir, I know last week’s showdown with Pinnacle was a big game for you in more ways than one. How did it feel to be back out there tearing up opposing defenses?

“It felt great I was happy to be back out there. I wasn’t nervous about being back out on the field, I prepared well in practice. We were ready to beat Pinnacle. We knew it would be a tough game, but our coaches prepared us to win.”

You had a great game with six receptions for 97 yards with one touchdown, how would you grade your performance?

“I did alright. I know I can do better all around, but for my first game back, I think I did alright.”

You guys get the No. 8 ranked team in Nevada (MaxPreps), Faith Lutheran (1-2), this Friday, what kind of game are you expecting from the Crusaders’ defense?

“From their defense, we will be prepared for how hard they will come at us and for their aggressiveness. We will be ready to come together as a team and win.”

Has the No. 19 national ranking by MaxPreps add any extra motivation to the team this week in practice?

“Our coach always tells us to not focus on the rankings. He tells us to just focus on the game, do not worry about all that. Just be prepared to beat whoever is in front of us.”

You committed to USC on April 2, 2018, how is that relationship with the staff growing this fall?

“Everything is getting better and better. I will be up there again when they come back for their next home game against Washington State (Sept. 21) to watch them win.”

Did you get to go to the home opener against UNLV?

“Yes, I did.”

How did the visit go?

“It was good. I enjoyed it. I enjoyed everything about it. Their offense looked great. They will get better and better every time they step on the field.”

Are you helping recruit guys to join you on the USC roster?

(Laughs) “I am. I am talking to a few guys.”

Munir, great catching up with you after seeing you in action against Pinnacle. Good luck on Friday against Faith Lutheran.

“Thank you.”
