For those that missed out on Logan Kyle’s junior season, they missed a highlight reel campaign beginning to end. The 6-3, 205-pound, receiving target was a beast against 6A Texas competition helping Memorial High School to an 8-3 year by pulling in 48 passes for 1,102 yards with 12 scores going up on the board. In addition to his big frame, Kyle flashed true next level acceleration showcasing his 4.46 speed in the 40 to make things happen on the field. That game-changing nature helped pull in 20 scholarship offers before his commitment to Vanderbilt on Thursday, April 11, 2019. In Kyle, the Commodores picked up more than a three-star recruit for the 2020 class, they picked up a seemingly impossible receiver to guard as the total package.
In an RNG catch-up interview, I sat down with Kyle for insight on how Vanderbilt became the ideal fit for him on and off the field.

Interview
Logan, congratulations on your commitment to Vanderbilt.
“Thank you.”
What was the recruiting process like between you and the Commodores’ staff?
“I had been in contact with Coach (Aaron) Moorehead (WR). He is a great guy. He kept checking in on me seeing what I was doing to get better and driving me to get better. That grew the relationship more and more. After being in contact with him, I decided to go visit. I loved it up there, the coaching staff was great. They know what they were doing, and the campus was beautiful too.”
When did you visit Vanderbilt?
“A couple of weeks ago.”
During your visit, what all did you do?
“I got to tour the campus. I am looking to major in engineering; we went into the engineering building and toured the dorms, weight room, locker room, and the stadium. It was all very cool.”
When the coaches spoke to you about your talents, what did they tell you they liked?
“They like my speed, athleticism, and my run after the catch abilities. I use to play running back. I am good at running after the catch and finding the hole to get more yards.”
How will they use you within their scheme?
“They will probably use me as one of their outside receivers, as a tall guy with speed. They said they can use me anywhere. It will all depend on how I fit in and what I am feeling within the offense. They want me to be that big guy going up for the deep ball, going on inside routes, and beating the defense with speed.”
At what point in your process did you start having that feeling that Vanderbilt might be the fit for you?
“I had narrowed it down to about three schools. I visited all three, Georgia Tech, Vanderbilt, and Rice. Vanderbilt checked all the boxes for me with football and education. In the end, it came down to the coaches. I thought Vanderbilt was the best fit for me. I will be with these coaches for the next four years; I want to like them. All of the coaches are super cool, smart, and I know they can help get me to the next level.”
When did you verbally commit?
“I committed on Thursday.”
What was that moment like right before you committed, that moment before you were about to realize a dream of playing college football?
“It was really cool. I sat down with my parents about 5 to 10 minutes before I called Coach Moorehead. I told my parents that I really want to go there. I told them I thought this was the best move for me and my future. Then, just thinking about it before I called, I was very excited about my dream coming true being able to play college.”
When do you plan on returning to Nashville for a visit?
“I will probably be going up there in two or three weekends for the NFL Draft. They are inviting recruits up there for the draft to watch. We will get to see some of the later rounds of the draft.”
Turning away from recruiting. How are the offseason workouts coming?
“They are going great. Coach (Sam) Parker (HC) is a great coach. We are going hard in the weight room and on the field with conditioning. We are all very pumped. We are doing a thing we call boot camp. Boot camp is working us to the core but it has been awesome.”
How is the track season treating you?
“My track season is going well. I made it to area. I won district in the 200 and 4×1. I am going to area for those two events.”
What is the best time you have posted in the 200 this season?
“My best time is a 22.07.”
Logan, congrats, again, on your commitment to Vanderbilt and good luck with your upcoming track meet.
“Thank you.”
