Since March, Oklahoma has been one of the hotter teams on the recruiting trail pulling in recruit after recruit from all over the country. On Saturday the Sooners added another in-state target landing defensive end Isaiah Thomas out of the Tulsa area.
Thomas was a big part of Memorial High School’s 7-5 playoff team in 2015. The extra run into the playoffs added more highlight reel footage helping lead to double-digit scholarship offers. The spring time proved to be fruitful for the 6-5, 230 pound, talent receiving offers from Kansas, Alabama, South Carolina, and others along the way. Other colleges seeking Thomas’ commitment included Arkansas State, Baylor, Tennessee, Texas A&M, Vanderbilt, Missouri, Iowa State, Arizona, and Nebraska.
The commitment was not a surprise after Thomas called the Sooners his favorite in late April but still a welcomed piece of news for Oklahoma fans. Thomas posted his commitment on Twitter stating, “I’m Extremely Blessed to announce that I’ve committed to the University of Oklahoma! #SoonerSquad17 #OUDNA.”
The Sooners staff has done a great job thus far securing top talent to the 2017 class. Per 247Sports, Oklahoma has nine 4-star recruits pledged out of 13 attached to the class. Four of the commitments are in-state talents; Justin Broiles, Tre Brown, Levi Draper, and Thomas.
