One of the more highly sought after recruits in the 2017 class was taken off the board on Thursday when five-star cornerback Stanford Samuels committed to Florida State.
Samuels helped Charles Flanagan High School (12-2) to a Florida Class 8A title in 2015 with a 26-7 win over Osceola for the trophy.
Teams from Akron and Auburn to Clemson and LSU took a shot at trying to land Samuels. In all, 41 reported offers have come Samuels’ way. In mid-April, Samuels narrowed his list down to four naming Florida State, Michigan, Georgia, and Alabama as his top schools. There was little surprise that Florida State was Samuels pick, over the past two seasons he has had the Seminoles as his favorite school.
Samuels, who plans to be an early enrollee, posted an announcement statement via Twitter:
Florida State now has 10 verbal commitments to their 2017 class. Samuels is the highest rated player thus far tied to the Seminoles haul.
