James Randle spent his junior season working his way to four-star status hauling in passes for Daytona Beach’s (Fla.) Homestead High School. Nearing 20 scholarship options, the 6-0, 180-pound, playmaker took unofficial summer visits to Louisville and Tennessee. One official visit is now set for mid-September with another paid for trip in the works.
The first trip taken this summer was to Knoxville.
“Tennessee went well,” Randle said. “I liked it up there. I like the campus and the new things they are bringing in, and I like their coaches. I was vibing with their coaches; I liked their facilities.”
Randle continued covering his time with the Volunteers, “I took pictures, walked the campus, and talked to their receivers coach, coach (Kelsey) Pope. I competed at their camp; I did well at their camp.”
Details to the conversation with coach Pope were provided.
“He was talking about how they are building their team and he talked about how they build their players up,” Randle stated. “He was talking about how they produce their players and help make them great on and off the field.”
The feel hanging with the Cardinals left an impression on Randle.
“Louisville went well,” Randle shared. “I liked it up there. I’m not going to lie; Louisville has a good vibe, and the atmosphere was good. They have really good facilities too. I like their coaching staff.”
The next trip is an official to Ohio to spend time with the Rockets.
“I am supposed to go to Toledo on Sept. 16 (San Jose State) for an official,” Randle said. “I am excited to go up there to see how it looks. They want me bad up there.”
Rockets’ receivers coach RJ Fleming is building the relationship with consistent contact.
“I am communicating with their receivers coach, coach Fleming,” Randle shared. “We talk or text every other day.”
Another official that could take place this fall would send Randle to Lincoln.
“I’ve been talking to Nebraska,” Randle stated. “They want to see my games this fall before setting an official.”
