Like a point guard pushing the ball up the court, Lyndon Worthy has the same ball skills when dropping back for Worth County (Sylvester, GA). Worthy (6-3, 165) added onto an amazing freshman campaign showing college scouts his talent and how much upside remains to his game. The 2024 schedule ended with Worthy earning first team All-Region, Region Player of the Year, and Scholar Athlete of the Year, and he’s just getting going.
The numbers tell Worthy’s story. During his freshman year, 2,670 passing yards with 27 scores were produced. Last fall, 3,408 yards with 37 touchdowns posted on the board.
Asked about his on the field success, Worthy turned it to his supporting cast, “It is my coaching and my team, and everyone around me playing really well.”
Operating in a Spread attack, the Rams averaged 43 points per contest.
“I was throwing corners, digs, posts, go balls, out cuts, slants, pretty much everything, post-corners,” Worthy stated.
Questioned about the one-year jump statistically, Worthy replied, “I was more comfortable. I was surveying the defense better verses trying to force a lot of things.”
In the playoff game against Fitzgerald, Worthy left it all on the field.
“We lost, but my best game was in the quarterfinals,” Worthy shared. “I threw for 419 yards and three touchdowns. We were rolling on offense; we just couldn’t stop them.”
Next level scouts are checking in on Worthy.
“Pitt and Georgia State are showing interest, and I went on a game-day visit to Clemson,” Worthy said.
Pitt Panthers offensive coordinator/quarterbacks coach Kade Bell stopped by Worth County.
“Pitt’s coach came by my school,” Worthy shared. “He watched my film with my coach; they were evaluating it.”
Worthy completed 203 of 312 attempts averaging 16.8 yards per completion. He ended his sophomore season year with a QB Rating of 128.0.
