Setting up bonds between high school players and college coaches is hard enough. When coaches put their program in harm’s way with ill-advised stereotypes of women, said school just made life a lot easier for other football programs and 10-times harder for themselves going forward. A really bad mistake by Texas A&M helped push four-star center Creed Humphrey to Oklahoma on Monday.

Humphrey plowed through opposing Oklahoma defenders during his junior season with Shawnee High School earning a four-star ranking for his efforts. Colleges have been on the No. 3 rated center in the nation (247Sports) throughout the spring pushing his offer total to 17 reported.

The frenzy of teams to offer includes Oklahoma State, Arizona State, Kansas State, Houston, Memphis, Vanderbilt, Virginia Tech, Central Florida, Arkansas State, Texas, and Alabama. During the off-season Humphrey visited Alabama, Texas A&M – twice, and Oklahoma – twice before committing to the Aggies on June 29.

After the Aggies coaching staff made their blunder, Humphrey quickly decommitted and promptly committed to Oklahoma posting a statement on Twitter:

The Sooners have been consistent with their recruitment of their 2017 class to date. The staff has pulled together the No. 5 ranked class in the nation thus far (Rivals) with 11 of the 17 commits being rated as four-star prospects.
