One of the best moments of a high school football player’s life is that moment when they commit to a school and realize their dream of playing college football is going to come true. Today that moment came true for Jakari Robinson, an Alabama All-State center, who plays for Munford High School in Munford.
Over the past year, Robinson has received over 15 offers but the offer that meant the most came on Oct. 5 from the University of Cincinnati. This past summer, the 6’2”, 290 pound, big man attended a camp there and immediately felt comfortable in that atmosphere.
During his senior season, Munford has helped lead the Lions to a 6-3 record and are guaranteed to reach the playoffs. They close out their regular season this Friday night hosting Cordova.
In an exclusive Recruiting News Guru interview, I sat down with Jakari to find out all about his commitment to the Bearcats.
Interview
First off, congratulations on your commitment. When do you decide to commit to Cincinnati?
“I’ve known that I wanted to commit to them but I just couldn’t decide when to do so. My coach told me to do what’s best for me so I decide to do it today.”
Who did you to commit too?
“My recruiter Coach Koonz but I’ve also talked to the offensive coordinator Zac Taylor and offensive line Coach J.B. Grimes.”
What was their reaction to your commitment?
“They were excited! I could hear it in their voice. They had anticipated it but they were still excited.”
When did you commit?
“11:10 this morning.”
Have you visited the University of Cincinnati?
“This summer, I attended a camp there. I loved the atmosphere. They gave me a tour and I met some players. I just really loved it there.”
What is your reaction knowing you will be playing football at the University of Cincinnati?
“I’m excited for real! In our town, we always had good players but they never went anywhere. I feel good because I didn’t think I would ever get to this moment!”
Thank you for your time and congratulations again on your commitment.
“Thank you, sir.”
