Program changing running backs are hard to find which has made the recruitment of Alvin Henderson (5-10, 195) intriguing to follow. The tailback out of Enterprise High School in Alabama has impressed with his speed and productivity becoming one of the most sought-after high school football players ever holding 74 offers. As the scholarship opportunities continue to come his way, the four-star is making the rounds checking out campuses.
Now past the 70-offer mark heading towards 80, Henderson was asked about all the acknowledgements.
“It is crazy,” Henderson said. “I think about it all the time; it is crazy. I can’t believe I have 74 offers.”
Two more offers could be coming Henderson’s way.
“Florida and LSU – they are talking to me, hopefully they offer soon,” Henderson shared.
After all the next level attention, Henderson wants to surpass his 2,636-yard, 49-TD, performance from last season.
“I am doing a lot of speed training, working on getting my core and lower body stronger so I can take more hits,” Henderson stated. “I want to rush for more yards than last year, but the main thing is better footwork and better field vision.”
Summer trips have been taken to Georgia, Florida State, and Auburn. The trip to Athens was detailed.
“It was a great visit,” Henderson said. “I was there for a spring practice. I sat down with their position coaches, talked with coach Kirby (Smart), and talked to (RB) Kendall Milton. They explained to me what was so unique about playing at Georgia.”
Time spent in Tallahassee never disappoints Henderson.
“Every time I go there, I went there before they offered me, every time I go there, they are showing me why they want me there,” Henderson shared. “I am building strong relationships with the coaches and players; I can tell they really want me to come there and play. The feeling is they are doing everything we can to get you to come here but not forcing it.”
While on The Plains, Henderson did a private workout with the Tigers.
“It was pretty good,” Henderson stated. “I had a good session with the coaches there. I did a lot of bag drills and ran some routes.”
Henderson continued, “They said they liked everything they saw. They are evaluating the film and will get back with me.”
A return to Athens could happen this summer. Asked about any other potential private workouts, Henderson replied, “Georgia wanted me to, that might be later in July. I’m not sure if I am going yet or not.”
