Alabama lands three top 2017 commitments over three days

Under head coach Nick Saban Alabama’s spot atop the college recruiting rankings has been a mainstay. The Crimson Tide wrapped up on of the top recruiting classes in the nation for the 2015 class in February, has nine commitments to their 2016 class including 5-star offensive lineman Jonah Williams, and made a big leap forward landing Bama’s first three commitments to their 2017 class over a three day period.

The Tide’s 2017 class started off in style landing Antioch, California 5-star running back Najee Harris on Saturday. The 6’1.5”, 210 pound running back, is just ending his sophomore school year but is already pushing 30 scholarship offers. Saban landed the prize recruit over offers from Arizona, Georgia, Cal, Oregon, UCLA, USC, Notre Dame, Oregon, Washington, Michigan, and TCU among others.

On Monday Alabama picked up two 4-star out of state commitments in Morton, Mississippi’s D.D. Bowie and Ellenwood, Georgia’s Netori Johnson.

Johnson is physically college ready listed at 6’4”, 325 pounds. The Cedar Grove High School star has reported offers from Auburn, Kentucky, N.C. State, South Florida, Minnesota, Illinois, Wake Forest, and Louisville.

Despite committing early, Bowie is sure to be one of the more highly recruited Class of 2017 recruits in the nation already holding six scholarship offers. The Morton High School talent is being sought after as an athlete by some and a wide receiver by others with Georgia, LSU, and Auburn along with in-state powers Ole Miss and Mississippi State recruiting the 6’1”, 200 pound, playmaker.

Alabama landed the recruits during one of their many summer one-day college camps which are sure to help lure many more recruits to Tuscaloosa for college in the upcoming days.
