Alabama Lands Top Class of 2017 QB Jake Fromm out of Georgia

The Crimson Tide currently have a Top 10 ranked 2016 recruiting class with 18 verbal commitments but are making significant strides towards a Top 5 class in 2017 with the addition of 4-star quarterback Jake Fromm on Saturday.
Fromm was one of around 50 recruits to attend Bama’s contest against Arkansas on Saturday. The win helped sway the Warner Robins area native to verbally commit after months of visiting the campus and on-going recruiting relations with offensive coordinator Lane Kiffin.
The recruiting win for Alabama was a pull over other top competitors for his commitment that included Ole Miss and South Carolina. In total, 13 different college have reported scholarship offers extended to the 6’3”, 200 pound, pocket passer. Other programs that have offered thus far include Kentucky, North Carolina, Vanderbilt, Samford, Miami, Cincinnati, Virginia Tech, Nebraska, Marshall, and Michigan State.
Fromm announced his decision on Twitter posting, “After much thought and prayer I would like to announce that I am committed to the University of Alabama!!!”
Fromm has been on the field for Houston County High School since his freshman season when he threw for 1,107 yards with eight scores against five picks while splitting time with a senior under center. Fromm had a breakout sophomore season passing for 3,629 yards with 31 scores against five interceptions while being the team’s starting quarterback. He also scrambled for 104 yards on 31 carries for an additional two scores leading the Bears to a 10-3 record.
Houston County is off to a terrific start in 2015 with a 6-0 record. Fromm is on pace to put up similar numbers from his sophomore season posting a stat line of 1,521 yards passing, 15 touchdowns thrown, and four picks.
Alabama signed quarterback Blake Barnett to their 2015 class and have a commitment from Channelview High School’s (Channelview, TX) Jalen Hurts for the 2016 class.
