BRADENTON, Fla. – Winning games on the gridiron is all about the talent acquired up front. On March 4, one of the nation’s best offensive linemen, Jordan Seaton (6-6, 285), dropped his list of favorites narrowing the scope of 40-plus offering schools. The St. John’s High School (Washington, DC) to IMG Academy (Bradenton, Fla.) talent is still open, but two SEC schools are making an impact with possible June official visits to be set. The actions send a signal to those in the running to step up their game.

The listed favorites for the four-star included Alabama, Oregon, Michigan, Tennessee, Miami, Oklahoma, LSU, Ohio State, Colorado, Florida, Texas A&M, Georgia, USC, and Maryland.

A handful of teams are keeping close contact.

Oklahoma and Alabama are reaching out on a regular basis,” Seaton said. “Ohio State, Georgia, and LSU; they are a newcomer, but they are in the hunt and hunting hard.”

A representative from all 14 of Seaton’s schools has made it to Bradenton this spring to see him.

“Literally every school on my list has come by to see me, and throughout the whole spring not just for our spring game,” Seaton stated. “I feel like they were able to see my progress from when I came in to how I finished. I was able to show the little things I have been working to fix throughout spring ball.”

Spring trips were taken to Florida State, Florida, and Alabama, another round of unofficial visits is likely.

“Unofficials coming up would have to be Tennessee, and expect a Miami unofficial,” Seaton shared. “I don’t know how soon but expect one. As far as official visits, I’ll say Alabama will be the first one.”

The draw to head to Knoxville was detailed.

“Coach (Glen) Elarbee (OL),” Seaton said. “As you know, he just put someone in the first round. You always want to go with development. And they have a fast-paced offense; we kind of do that here. We are pretty much fast-paced. IMG teaches the same techniques and ideas with blocking as you see with most of the SEC schools; being able to see them do that and what they do is not a far step down if you know what I am saying.”

The man in charge in Coral Gables is reason enough for Seaton to go check out Miami.

“Coach (Mario) Cristobal, man,” Seaton stated. “He’s an o-line dude, he knows his o-line. Being able to be coached by him, a hands-on head coach, you don’t see a lot of those, so that’s very good.”

Seaton provided more coverage on his official visit plans.

Alabama and probably expect LSU too,” Seaton shared. “Those two right now, I know I will OV with them. I am not too sure on everyone else right now. We’ll see when fall ball comes around.”

The resume of Crimson Tide head coach Nick Saban and the coaching style of Eric Wolford is attracting Seaton to Tuscaloosa.

“Coach Saban has done it all,” Seaton said. “He’s coached at every level; he knows the game the best of anyone else. As far as coach Wolford, he’s a good dude. He came from Kentucky. He offered me at Kentucky. Knowing I was a priority for him at Kentucky and him going to Alabama and making me a priority again has been very good.”

The developing relationship with LSU offensive line coach Brad Davis could turn into a paid for trip to Baton Rouge for Seaton.

“Coach Brad Davis is as real as it gets,” Seaton stated. “You don’t get too many guys like coach Brad Davis. He’s a real dude. He knows his stuff, and he’s not just a football guy, he will teach you about life. He will teach you about how to be a man; that means a lot to me and my family.”

ON THE FIELD

Beyond recruiting, Seaton spoke about suiting up with his new teammates.

“The transition to IMG has been very smooth for me,” Seaton said. “Being able to compete against great guys across the board has been really good for me.”

The Ascenders’ spring game drew packed sidelines with college coaches from all over the country. Seaton felt good about what he showed during the intrasquad practice.

“I feel like my performance was very good,” Seaton stated. “You always have things you want to go back to the board and work on, but as far as leaving it out on the field, I feel like I did that.”

The four-star had a message for all, “I’m the best offensive lineman in the country.”
