The state of Florida never disappoints on the high school gridiron with top players being developed year after year. Now that the vast majority of the 2025 recruiting class has been signed, college programs will turn their attention to the current underclassmen – the future of the game. At DeLand High School in Florida, the Bulldogs have a rising prospect with unlimited potential in Taihj Moore.

Moore (5-11, 170) already has the look of a four-star all-purpose tailback. Taking on Sunshine State’s 7A defenses, the freshman phenom wrapped 160 handoffs for 1,380 yards reaching the end zone 19 times. Adding to the stat sheet, Moore secured 15 passes for 260 yards with another score. On special teams, 11 kicks were returned for 263 yards with a touchdown and 16 punts were taken back for 72 more yards.

Feeling his way through the first part of the 2024 schedule, the Class of 2028 prospect hit his stride midseason realizing his game changing abilities.

“It started happening for me when we played Mainland,” Moore said. “In that game, I knew I could do this. On the first play of the game, on kick return, I knew I could put up big numbers. I took that kick back for a touchdown.”

For inspiration, Moore turns to former Michigan State All-American (2012) and Pittsburgh Steelers All-Pro Le’Veon Bell (2014).

“I always watch Le’Veon Bell,” Moore shared. “He’s very patient, and he knows how to read the holes; I base my game off of him.”

Game film shows Moore’s extra gear, balance and power running through arm tackles, and uncanny awareness on the field.

Moore spoke about his strengths as a running back, “I know how to read the holes, and I am an aggressive runner.”

The offseason grind is underway.

“I want to get faster and stronger,” Moore stated.

College scouts may see Moore on the track this spring and making the rounds in 7-on-7 tournaments.
