The state of Alabama is on notice, RaKaveon Goldsmith is coming. The Class of 2028 prospect out of the city of Hoover has all the tools with an unlimited upside. The arm, touch, and accuracy are on point, and the gunslinger is not afraid to take a hit in the pocket to deliver the big play downfield. Those skills are about to go on display across the country in 7-on-7 tournaments with Southern Express this offseason.
Goldsmith will matriculate to Hoover High School after playing his 2023 season with Bumpus Middle School.
“We ran a two by two, and 21-personnel with the tight ends,” Goldsmith explained. “Most of our offense was two by two set in a Spread. The receivers were running outs, slants, goes, corners, and those types of routes.”
The style of play in the pocket was detailed.
“My game, I am more of a passer than a running QB,” Goldsmith shared. “But at the same time, if we need yards, I can get us the first down. I am more of a pocket passer than a running QB. I really improved with my football IQ this season, reading the defenses and knowing where the windows will be open by watching film.”
Asked, “what is something you learned about being a leader that will help you going forward?” Goldsmith replied, “I’ve always been a leader – telling my teammates where to go if they don’t know where to go and if we are down bringing people up so we are still in the game. I bring the energy to the team so we can win the game.”
To learn more about the position and the game, Goldsmith has years of experience guiding him forward.
“I work with Demetric Price from Alabama State and Miles College,” Goldsmith said. “Demetric Price has been my primary QB trainer with Price Elite Quarterback Academy (PEQA). I’ve also worked with Ben Neil with QB Country.”
Asked what he’s learning from his QB trainers, Goldsmith replied, “We mainly work on footwork. We get on the white board talking about defenses and the plays we run against different defenses. We talk about the defenses, which routes and windows will be open. We do a lot of drills. We mainly work on footwork and throwing.”
Early looks are coming Goldsmith’s way from teams like UAB. Next level scouts will get to see more of the Class of 2028 prospect in action at the Black Ops and QB Takeover camps as well as with Southern Express on the 7-on-7 circuit.
