Going against Sandra Day O’Conner (Phoenix, AZ) during the 2024 season, Bentley Corbin was making defenders look foolish. The Class of 2025 tailback was seemingly a master at fighting through first contact, shaking off arm tackles, and bursting through to the second level for big gains. The speed and power propelled Corbin over the 1,100-yard rushing mark against tenacious 6A Arizona Desert Valley competition. With National Signing Day ahead, Corbin is narrowing in on recruiting options.

The stats for Corbin (5-8, 187) tell the tale. Corbin earned Arizona Republic All-Arizona honors after rushing for 1,111 yards off 134 carries with 20 trips into the end zone. Showing his versatility, Corbin was second on the Eagles’ in receptions (24) adding 245 more yards to his stat line.

“We were mostly a Wing-T offense with some 11- and 12-personnel,” Corbin said. “We were a run-heavy team.”

In the playoffs, Corbin put on a show against one of Arizona’s best teams.

“I’d say my best game was against Queen Creek,” Corbin stated. “They were No. 3 or No. 4 most of the year in our state. Stat wise, I am sure I was 100-plus rushing with around 100 yards receiving. It was a good and fun game. Stat wise, Valley Vista was my best. I had five touchdowns and almost 200 yards rushing.”

Corbin spoke about the skills that produced the big season, “One of my strengths is my ability to go wherever my coach needs me. I can make the first guy miss and find open grass. I can adapt to the coaching style on my team, perform that, and execute it the best.”

Part of Corbin’s continued growth on the field is working with speed trainer Sharod Selph off it.

“I am speed training with a national champion sprinter – AZ Speed Guru,” Corbin stated. “He’s a great guy. He has helped me get faster.”

The offer sheet for Corbin is in the neighborhood of 20 with teams like Western Colorado, Fort Lewis, and Colorado Pueblo showing interest.

“I am about to set an official visit date with Western New Mexico,” Corbin said.

The relationship between Corbin and the Mustangs staff was covered.

“It is pretty strong,” Corbin shared. “I met them the first time in person during a summer camp. I have stayed in communication with them. They came to visit me at school a few weeks ago; that was great. It has continued from there.”

Splitting carries during the 2023 campaign with then-senior Nathan Bayus, Bentley took 68 handoffs for 511 yards with four scores.

The offering programs for Corbin includes Black Hills, Western New Mexico, Lewis and Clark, Puget Sound, Pacific, Lake Forest, Hastings, Grinnell, Wabash, and Washington and Lee.
