When Oregon got the bad news on Tuesday night that four-star Arizona quarterback Ryan Kelley was decommitting, the writing was on the proverbial wall as to what was about to play out next. Three days later all thoughts were confirmed as to why Kelley had a change of heart when he verbally committed to Arizona State.
Kelley played his way into a four-star recruit after tossing for 3,108 yards with 30 touchdowns during his sophomore year. In 2015 the merging Basha High School talent had a tougher time displaying his skill set passing for 2,606 yards with 20 touchdowns against seven interceptions. Kelley did show a little more of his potential dual-threat abilities rushing for 459 yards off 48 carries with four additional scores.
Kelley had committed to Oregon on Nov. 12, two days after taking an unofficial visit to Eugene. Offers continued to come in for the Chandler area product with Cal, North Carolina, Oregon State, San Diego State, Texas A&M, Nebraska, Washington, UCLA, Central Florida, and Washington State being among the many trying to land him.
The new direction for college became official when Kelley posted his decision on Twitter:
Arizona State now has three verbal commitments to their 2017 class highlighted by Kelley.
