Arkansas High School Football Week 4 Recap
The conclusion of Week 4 high school football in the state of Arkansas flowed along as predicted sans one outcome in 7A West that could narrow the competitive field heading towards the playoffs.
One can never count out Fayetteville until the clock rolls triple-zeros in the final game of their season. But, the Bulldogs are in unfamiliar territory for now starting the year off 1-3 after a tough 32-27 road loss to rival Bentonville. Junior quarterback Darius Bowers did his part throwing for 266 yards with a touchdown but the ground game never got going against the Tigers held to 78 yards on 36 carries. The highlight, two rushing scores.
Life on the gridiron does not get any better for Fayetteville this week. An emerging 4-0 Bentonville West team hosts the Bulldogs on Sept. 29.
The No. 1 team in the state, Pulaski Academy, did not play around with visiting Fair on Friday night. The Bruins took no mercy – well at least in the first quarter, allowing 2018 quarterback Layne Hatcher to throw for 320 yards with four touchdowns in the first and only quarter played.
Mercy may have been needed for Hall against Pine Bluff. The Zebras crushed Hall 60-6 scoring 52 points in the first half. The scoring machine that is Conway kept churning out points racking up 54 in an overtime win against Fort Smith Southside. Michael George turned in a game to remember performance carrying the rock 31 times for 351 yards with four touchdowns.
The top team out of 6A, Greenwood, stayed undefeated (4-0) with a convincing 38-17 win over Arkansas (Texarkana). Razorbacks Class of 2018 quarterback commit Connor Noland connected on 14-of-25 passes for 202 yards with three touchdowns against one pick. Senior running back Kenny Wood rushed 16 times for 129 yards with two scores. The Bulldogs welcome El Dorado this week.
