Arkansas lands Madison Central TE Grayson Gunter
Written by Ryan Wright
A recruiting coup for the Arkansas Razorbacks that can only truly be appreciated, or hated, by those in Mississippi and the surrounding area took place on Wednesday when the Hogs landed a verbal commitment from Grayson Gunter.
Gunter is a powerful 6’5”, 230 pound, tight end from Madison Central High School. As a junior in 2014 he pulled down 21 passes for 232 yards accounting for roughly 20 percent of the Jaguars passing yards. He also helped pave the way for over 1,900 yards rushing proving to be a true every down tight end.
College coaches throughout the area have extended offers with teams like Arkansas State, Louisiana Tech, Louisiana-Monroe, Memphis, Tulane, South Alabama, and Middle Tennessee State dropping offers. The tug of war for Grayson was reportedly down to the Razorbacks and the Mississippi State Bulldogs. MSU offered Grayson on June 8 and the Hogs offered him on June 20 after competing at one of their camps.
Other schools showing interest in Grayson include Ole Miss, Tennessee, Vanderbilt, and Miami.
The Razorbacks now have 10 verbal commitments to their 2016 class with seven of the recruits coming from out of state high schools.
