The Razorbacks may have gotten one of the bigger steals in the 2017 recruiting class landing long snapper Jordan Silver on Sunday.
All football fans know the importance of special teams but few realize just how important until a bad snap leads to a missed field goal or a bad snap sails or fumbles its way back to a punter. The importance of the third phase of the game is often overlooked even by college football coaches. The addition of Silver, a five-star Kohl’s rated long snapper, as a committed walk-on is a big coup for Arkansas head coach Bret Bielema snagging a top recruit without having to use a scholarship.
When Silver matriculates to Arkansas, he will not have to go too far. The Branson High School standout will have less than a two hour commute from home to campus. Silver also plays defensive end for the Pirates.
Silver made his announcement on Twitter posting, “Blessed to say I have committed to The University of Arkansas to continue my football career. Couldn’t have done it without @KohlsKicking.”
