The courting of Cabot High School quarterback/wide receiver Jarrod Barnes did not take long for the Arkansas Razorbacks. The Razorbacks offered on Thursday, Feb. 11, and one week later Barnes called the Hogs.
Barnes is being recruited to play wide receiver at Arkansas but lines up more as a Wildcat quarterback for Cabot. The Panthers went 10-1 in 2015 with Barnes leading the way before falling 35-25 to Fort Smith Southside in the first round of the Arkansas High School Playoffs. The 5’11”, 170 pound, talent is quick and shifty with breakaway speed.
The first in-state offer extended by the Razorbacks went to Barnes. Arkansas is the only reported offer for Barnes at this time.
Arkansas now has two verbal commitments to their 2017 class joining Archbishop Rummel linebacker/safety Derrick Munson.
Arkansas Razorbacks 2017 Verbal Commitment List
LB/DB Derrick Munson, 6-0, 195, Archbishop Rummel, Metairie, LA
WR/QB Jarrod Barnes, 5-11, 170, Cabot HS, Cabot, AR
