Arkansas head coach Bret Bielema addressed the media on Monday updating the status of the Razorbacks football team ahead of their road contest against Alabama. Bielema also provided some information on depth chart changes after the Hogs’ 24-20 road win against Tennessee in Week 5.

On defense, coordinator Robb Smith continues to tweak his lineup even from just two games ago. True freshman linebacker Dre Greenlaw continues to impress but now starting opposite of him on the strong-side is sophomore Dwayne Eugene after a broken leg took junior Josh Williams out of the game against Tennessee. Williams had surgery on Sunday with doctors placing a rod in Williams’ leg. Williams is expected to be out around four months. The play where Williams was injured has been sent into the SEC offices for a ruling on being a clean block or an illegal play.

Another underclassman not ready to come off the field is free safety Santos Ramirez. Ramirez opened the season as the team’s second-team strong safety behind Rohan Gaines but the redshirt freshman has moved ahead of sophomore Josh Liddell and Kevin Richardson as the team’s starter.

Defensive ends Tevin Beanum and Jeremiah Ledbetter were given defensive team awards as top players against Tennessee. The duo will start again having supplanted JaMichael Winston and Deatrich Wise.

Good news for Arkansas’ depth in the backfield might be coming soon with Juan Day continuing his readiness to take the field. The last two weeks he has practiced with the team and is expected to participate in a scrimmage this week to test his knee. A return to the field for the redshirt freshman could be as soon as the Auburn game (Oct. 24).
