The insult of losing 16-12 in Little Rock to unranked Toledo continued to play out in different ways for the Arkansas Razorbacks with the Monday announcement wide receiver Keon Hatcher will miss up to six weeks with a foot injury.
Hatcher, a senior, was hurt in the fourth quarter against the Rockets in Week 2. The injury will require surgery that will reportedly be done today (Monday).
Junior receiver Drew Morgan will get the start in Hatcher’s absence moving talented but oft suspended redshirt freshman Jojo Robinson in at wide receiver where Morgan started against Toledo.
Several Razorbacks were helped off or carted off the field against Toledo but Hatcher’s injury is the only one that will force missed game time. Other players dinged up after Week 2 include Eric Hawkins, safety Josh Liddell, running back Kody Walker, starting left tackle Denver Kirkland, and linebacker Josh Williams.
Hatcher brings a presence to the Razorbacks lineup leading the team with 13 receptions for 198 yards with two touchdowns but also struggles with drops. The Hogs have several young but talented receivers to promote up through the ranks if needed including JUCO transfer Dominque Reed, freshman La’Michael Pettway, and Kendrick Edwards, who is slated for a redshirt this season.
