Auburn added a top sleeper recruit to their 2017 recruiting class on Friday when Jordyn Peters committed to the Tigers.
Peters was an unsung hero for Muscle Shoals High School in 2015 despite helping the 6A program to an 11-1 mark. During the spring evaluation period, recruitment for the 6-2, 185 pound, talent picked up leading to a whirlwind off-season.
Early interest and offers in Peters varied from schools like Tulane, Yale, Troy, Southern Miss, South Alabama, Mercer, and Arkansas State. The heat turned up a notch when teams like Mississippi State, Michigan, Louisville, Duke, and Minnesota started dropping offers.
The writing appeared to be on the wall after Auburn offered Peters on July 23 after a Tigers camp. The following day Peters released a list of top schools narrowing it down to Auburn, Ole Miss, and Virginia Tech before his commitment. Peters released a commitment video naming Auburn is top school.
After months and months of little activity on the recruiting trail, since May, Auburn has picked up the pace landing 10 commitments. The class thus far has a heavy athletic and skill position lean with just three linemen committed.
