Auburn landed a stud all-purpose running back to their 2018 recruiting class on Wednesday when Shaun Shivers verbally committed to the Tigers.
Shivers rise as one of the top ranked running backs in his class was quick, and well-deserved. The 5-7, 160 pound, playmaker rushed for 1,219 yards off 147 totes with 19 scores as a sophomore with Chaminade-Madonna Prep. Showing his versatility, he also hauled in 11 passes for 84 yards with another touchdown helping the Lions to a 6-3 record last season against Florida 3A competition.
The Lions are off to a 7-1 start to their 2016 season with Shivers splitting carries with dual-threat Henry Colombi and fellow junior Keyondre White. Stats posted through seven games has Shivers with 663 yards on the ground off just 57 carries with six scores to go along with his four receptions for 84 yards with one more touchdown. Shivers added a 93-yard kick return for a touchdown to his list of can-do’s this season.
Shivers was in the neighborhood of 20 offers when he committed to Auburn. The list of hopefuls includes LSU, Maryland, Georgia, Cincinnati, Kentucky, West Virginia, Virginia Tech, South Carolina, TCU, Utah, and Mississippi State.
Auburn fans found out about his commitment on Twitter with a statement reading:
Shivers is the second addition to Auburn’s 2018 class joining Jacksonville (FL) quarterback Joey Gatewood. Both Gatewood and Shivers are considered four-star recruits.
