Bastrop overcomes 32 Penalties to Beat Shiloh Christian 42-22

The drive up north for Bastrop from Louisiana to Arkansas ended in a victory put was far from ideal with the Rams leaving Springdale notching a 42-22 win over Shiloh Christian.
Bastrop bounced out to a 14-0 lead by the end of the first quarter stretching the lead to 22-0 early in the second quarter. After intermission, Shiloh Springs finally got on the board in the third quarter when quarterback Connor Reece threw a 24-yard touchdown pass to Tyler Roth. Shiloh Christian came up with a stop on defense and a punt snap miscue getting the ball at the 7-yard line. Reece connected with Tion Walker making the score 22-14 Bastrop.
Shiloh Christian pressed their forward momentum attempting an on-side kick. Failing on the kick, the Rams recovered then scored on a 53-yard pass from Jerry Powell to Alfoncius Dowles pushing the score to 34-14.
Bastrop added another score when Reece was called for intentional grounding in the end zone giving the Rams a 36-14 lead. On Bastrop’s next possession Travion Burks broke free for a 45-yard touchdown run.
Backup quarterback Landon Brown gave Shiloh Christian their final score on a 20-yard touchdown pass to Jace Herman.
The game was marred by 32 penalties called on Bastrop totaling 270 yards. Jerry Powell scored three rushing touchdowns to pace Bastrop to victory.
Shiloh Christian was shy one of their top offensive weapons when running back Broc Berus left the game in the second quarter due to an undisclosed injury.
