Baylor Adds Another Bellaire Talent to 2017 Class Landing DT Jayden Peevy

For Baylor, if it has worked once before, chances are it will work again. The Bears have worked the Texas high school teammate connection for a second time landing budding defensive tackle Jayden Peevy on Monday.

Peevy was part of a Cardinals team that went 6-6 in 2015 making a run into the second round of the playoffs. Through seven games, the 6’6”, 280 pound, defensive tackle amassed 41 tackles, nine tackles for a loss, nine sacks, and 19 quarterback hurries cementing himself as a mainstay in the opposition’s backfield during his junior season.

Recruiting interest have started to peak for the Bellaire High School standout receiving his first offer from Sam Houston State in July of 2014, but saw his recruiting stock take off in the new year. Peevy attended a Bears and Texas A&M Junior Day in January and saw six other offers come in from Division-I programs since February. Tulsa, Houston, Indiana, Maryland, and Texas Tech all sought the services of Peevy. Baylor offered on Feb. 28 landing the big man on April 4.

Peevy posted his commitment on Twitter writing, “I will [sic] like to thank all the coaches who have recruited me and believe in my abilities to play football at the next level. After talking with my family, coaches, friends I have decided to commit to Baylor University!!! #sicem.”

Baylor has worked the high school connection twice so far in the 2017 class landing two Stafford High School talents in safety Jalen Pitre and wide receiver Hezekiah Jones. Peevy is the second Bellaire player to commit joining safety Donovan Stiner. The Bears now have six verbal commitments to their 2017 class.
