After an 11-3 season in 2019, Baylor struggled during a 2-7 campaign in their first season under former LSU defensive coordinator Dave Aranda in 2020. The Bears finished ninth in the Big 12 with their only victories coming against Kansas and Kansas State. The focus tied to the 2021 recruiting class is to land the top players that will help rebuild the program in Aranda’s image getting back on top of the Big 12 Conference once again.
The first step in a successful rebuild is a good recruiting class which Coach Aranda and his staff started to lock in last month during the early signing period. Currently, their 2021 class sits fifth in the conference behind Oklahoma, Texas, Oklahoma State, and West Virginia; in that order. The two crown jewels that the Bears locked in last month from their home state include four-star dual-threat quarterback Kyron Drones from Pearland and four-star offensive lineman Tate Williams from Wall.
Baylor also signed one of the top recruits from Oklahoma in cornerback Tevin Williams from Stillwater. Two transfers that are going to contribute immediately on the offensive line include Grant Williams, a Vanderbilt transfer, and Jake Burton, an UCLA transfer.
It will be exciting to watch over the next couple of years as Coach Aranda takes this program back to the top of the Big 12 just like they were in 2019.
The Bears 2021 recruiting class ranks 42nd nationally with two four-star players and 15 three-star prospects.
