Baylor Doubles Commitments with QB Charlie Brewer and CB Timarcus Davis

Let the healing begin and the new Baylor recruiting class start gaining momentum. On the last day of 2016, Baylor doubled their 2017 recruiting class landing quarterback Charlie Brewer and cornerback Timarcus Davis.
Brewer has been a prolific quarterback for Lake Travis High School over the past two seasons. The 6-1, 188 pound, gunslinger threw for 3,426 yards with 42 scores as a junior and topped his personal best in 2016 with 3,923 yards and 54 touchdowns while becoming more of a dual-threat rushing for 746 yards with nine more scores. All the hard work with Lake Travis was rewarded with Texas 6A Offensive Player of the Year honors.
SMU had been locked in with Brewer since May 27 but a Dec. 18 offer from the Bears’ new staff changed everything. Brewer posted his commitment on Twitter with a statement:
Davis was another flip for the Bears being pulling him away from Houston. Once Cougars head coach Tom Herman went to the Longhorns an opportunity presented itself for Davis. The 5-11, 165 pound, talent caught attention with a breakout junior campaign coming up with 79 total tackles while breaking up 18 passes and pulling down seven interceptions.
Before Davis committed to the Bears he had over 20 scholarship offers. Some of the teams to offer Davis included Arkansas, Oklahoma State, Missouri, San Diego State, Purdue, Kansas, Iowa State, Utah, Syracuse, Cincinnati, and Arizona. Davis also posted his commitment on Twitter with a statement:
247Sports rates Baylor’s class No. 126 in the country with four commits. The Bears have lost eight recruits with the dismissal of former head coach Art Briles. Davis and Brewer are both considered three-star talents.
