At any other point in time since college football began back in 1869, every coach with a whistle around their neck would be fighting to sign Trystan Haynes as a receiver. After all, the 6-2, 175-pound, talent just hauled in 45 passes for 1,0009 yards with 12 scores posted in Carl Albert’s (Midwest) perfect run to capture a 5A Oklahoma state championship. But as dynamic a talent Haynes is on offense, he is all that and then some at corner for the Titans.
The four-star spoke about helping secure a trophy for Carl Albert High School, “The season went pretty well. We came together and won a state championship. We had team and individual success. It was a good season.”
On defense, Haynes shined recording 51 stops with four tackles for a loss, three forced fumbles while picking off three and knocking away seven.
Asked which position he likes best, Haynes replied, “Right now, I like playing corner best.”
Holding 19 offers, Haynes shared which position college teams see him playing.
“They mainly recruit me to play corner, but some are recruiting me as an athlete, but mostly they are recruiting me to play corner.”
Earning All-State and All-City honors, Haynes is pushing himself to keep improving.
“I am working on corner techniques,” Haynes stated. “I am getting that down; I’ve only been playing corner for a year or two. I am working on it as much as possible before college.”
In addition to his gridiron grind, Haynes is burning up the track this winter.
“I run the 4×1, 4×2, 4×4, and compete in the long jump,” Haynes said. “Our team got second place in the 4×1 and 4×2 last year; I was running anchor.”
On the field, that speed translates to fast-on-fast.
“Last summer at Oklahoma State, I ran a 4.45,” Haynes shared.
Miami and Nebraska are the most recent to offer the 2025 prospect with new interest coming his way.
“Colorado has been talking to me,” Haynes said. “Pitt’s coaches started talking to me today. There are a couple others I can’t think of right now. Oregon and USC have been sending stuff.”
Four squads have been doing their best to develop a long-distance relationship with Haynes.
“OU (Oklahoma) has been reaching out,” Haynes stated. “I am going to a couple of places coming up. Miami and Nebraska have been talking to me a lot. I am going to Missouri this weekend to see what is going on there.”
While in Columbia, Haynes will get to see what Mizzou fans are all about.
“I am excited that I get to meet the coaches and talk football,” Haynes shared. “They have a basketball game; I get to see the crowd and atmosphere. I am excited about that.”
On the rapport with the Mizzou coaches, Haynes added, “They were talking to me and facetiming me a couple of times during the season. We have a pretty good relationship.”
Miami has Haynes’ interest.
“I like their coaches,” Haynes said. “Coach (Jahmile) Addae (DB), he came down to my school. They are talking about getting me down there for a visit. I like their school; it looks like a nice place to play.”
A trip to Lincoln is in the works.
“I have been talking to them for a minute,” Haynes stated. “We were talking a lot during the season. I am trying to find a day to go there. One of their coaches added me on PlayStation.”
After visiting Oklahoma, TCU, and Texas A&M during the season, the Sooners will see Haynes again soon.
“I know I am going to OU next weekend for their Junior Day,” Haynes shared. “There are a couple of others talking to me about their Junior Days. I want to go to Miami sometime soon. I am trying to set it up.”
The Sooners are doing their best to keep Haynes home for college.
“Four of my teammates are there, I like OU,” Haynes said. “They are trying to get me to go there. I am trying to figure out what is best for me. I am looking over my options to see what is best for me.”
