Bishop Gorman has blazed a path towards high school football glory not only within the state of Nevada but across the country in recent years. The Gaels productivity on the field and championship trophies on the shelf are unmatched over the same duration.
Year after year players coming out of the Las Vegas school fill Division-I rosters across the country. After another undefeated season in 2015, college coaches set their eyes on an up-and-coming Gaels cornerback talent in Alex Perry. Perry (5-10, 170) held his own and then some against some of the best competition out there coming up with 27 tackles, 23 solo, 4.5 tackles for a loss, picked off three passes amassing 131 return yards, and even got one sack.
Offers rolled in from teams like Michigan, Oklahoma, Arizona, Memphis, Oklahoma State, UNLV, Texas-San Antonio, Washington State, North Carolina, and Colorado. Arizona State won Perry’s early verbal commitment but a change of heart came on Feb. 4. A new path forward may have been announced on Saturday while a Bishop Gorman laden 7×7 team competed at Redondo Union High School in Los Angeles.
Update
After speaking with Alex off camera once the interview was completed he clarified his comments as a “soft verbal.” After posting the article link on Twitter, Perry updated his status adding, “misunderstanding… I have not committed to Colorado. My recruitment process is still open. I plan on visiting CU.”
