The Cardinals replaced the big running back desired after the decommitment of Octavius Matthews in the 2017 class with another wildly talented running in Colin Wilson.
Wilson is that big back with speed all college offensive coordinators love. The Clay High School star jumped onto the recruiting scene during his junior season rushing for 1,555 yards off 218 carries with 15 touchdowns. Showing the ability to be an all-purpose back, Wilson hauled in six passes for 197 yards with two more scores.
The Blue Devils are off to a 5-2 start this season with their 6-2, 220 pound, talent rushing for 338 yards off 50 carries with three scores in six games. In the passing attack, Wilson has added four receptions for 83 yards with another score.
Wilson committed to Louisville on Wednesday after pulling in 30-plus offers. Among the many trying to land the Florida product included Alabama, Florida, Notre Dame, Clemson, Georgia, Oklahoma, Michigan, USC, Tennessee, Stanford, North Carolina, Mississippi State, Miami, and Auburn.
Louisville now has 22 verbal commitments to their 2017 class. Wilson might be the only back taken in the class. Junior college tailback Octavius Matthews was the Cardinals previous tailback commit but lost him when he flipped to Auburn in June.
