Boise State Goes into Arizona for 2017 QB Chase Cord

Boise State went back into the state of Arizona on Monday to get their second commitment in the 2017 class landing three-star quarterback Chase Cord.

Cord started drawing national attention after his sophomore season when he passed for 2,286 yards with 33 touchdowns against just five interceptions for Sunrise Mountain (Peoria). The Mustangs posted a 9-2 mark in 2014 with Cord leading the way on offense. Cord started putting it all together on the field during his junior year leading his team to an 11-1 mark. His stat line grew outrageous completing 71 percent of his passes connecting for 3,173 yards with 52 touchdowns against six picks.

Although listed as a pro-style quarterback, the 6’3”, 195 pound talent led his team in rushing as a sophomore with 933 yards 12 touchdowns and again the following year with 1,059 yards finding the end zone another 13 times.

Cord had double-digit offers pushing 20 scholarships on the table when he committed to Boise State. Some of the other programs after the Arizona talent includes Colorado, UTEP, Indiana, Illinois, Columbia, Northern Arizona, Princeton, San Diego State, Nevada, Iowa State, Harvard, Wyoming, and Utah.

The Broncos now have two verbal commitments to their 2017 class. Both players are from the state of Arizona.
