There was little new enthusiasm for the Razorbacks’ fanbase on Wednesday, but on the positive a talented class remains intact. What Arkansas fans saw from the coaching staff during the Early Signing Period in December is what carried through to the end on National Signing Day, 22 total signees now ranking 24th nationally, eighth-best in the SEC, instead of No. 20. Within the mix of signed prospects promises to be some impact players helping the Hogs onto victory for years to come.
The most exciting signee for the Hogs has to be four-star running back/athlete AJ Green. Green has that build of former Razorback Felix Jones listed at 5-11, 194, with a frame to add more muscle. Another share similar to Jones, beyond being from the Tulsa area, is the speed. Green showcased world class speed during the 2019 track season blazing a 10.52 in the 100 meters at an Oklahoma 6A track meet.
Another player that can make an instant impact is running back Javion Hunt (6-0, 205). The Carl Albert standout had a breakthrough junior year rushing for 1,114 yards and 25 touchdowns while catching 12 passes for 135 yards with another score. The Titans won the Oklahoma 5A state championship in 202 with Hunt reducing his work load netting 792 yards off 135 totes with 12 touchdowns.
For the Razorbacks to compete at a high level within the SEC, the offensive line must be a counted upon product. Based on size alone, Devon Manuel has all the tools to be that cornerstone left tackle of the future. Listed at 6-8, 300, Manuel can add more to his frame helping stonewall ends with his long arms while blowing open holes in the rushing attack. Joining Manuel in the trenches are fellow three-star recruits Terry Wells, Cole Carson, and Cameron Ball. Ball may be ranked as a three-star, but this Georgia talent shrugged off 38 other offers from the likes of Virginia Tech, Tennessee, Mississippi State, Vanderbilt, Florida State, and Georgia Tech to become a Hog.
Arkansas fans are rightly excited to see four-star receiver Ketron Jackson running routes, but what the coaching staff does with Florida four-star Raheim Sanders will be the most interesting signing in this class. At 6-2, 210, Sanders has the abilities to play running back, receiver, or drop in the box on the other side of the ball.
The in-state Parkview High School connection was made signing tight end Erin Outley and quarterback Landon Rogers; might this be a precursor to signing Class of 2022 Parkview running back James Jointer?
The Hogs already have a strong jump on the 2022 recruiting class with three verbally committed; four-star South Carolina guard Eli Henderson and in-state three-stars defensive end JJ Hollingsworth and tight end Dax Courtney.
