BRADENTON, Fla. – The itch is there for 2024 college football prospects to find a home, but for some, the process is still ongoing. Out of Georgia’s Bradwell Institute, Elyjah Thurman has worked his way to four-star status but his game is still evolving. The big man is still growing, now at 6-5, 270, and the schools interested in him a growing as well.
Florida, UCF, Duke, USF and Wake are part of the 11-offer crew after Thurman, but that list is set to add company after the spring evaluation period and summer college camp tours.
“Ole Miss, Mississippi State, South Carolina, USC, Oregon, Baylor, LSU, Alabama, and Georgia are all showing interest,” Thurman said.
The Demon Deacons hosted Thurman in March.
“It was great over there,” Thurman shared. “They had been pushing for me to get there, and once I got there, the staff, the coaches, the weight room, and the facilities – everything, it was just great.”
While in Orlando, the Knights welcomed Thurman to campus.
“That was a good visit as well,” Thurman stated. “I had just come off the Under Armour camp; I got to see their facilities and meet the coaches. Everything was good there.”
After a planned visit to South Florida, Thurman ran down all the schools he’s planning to visit this spring and summer.
“I have a couple more lining up that I am supposed to go to; South Carolina, Florida, Duke, Troy, Ole Miss and Mississippi State over the summer, and Tennessee,” Thurman said.
The Gamecocks want to see Thurman move in a camp setting.
“They’ve been talking to me since the end of my season,” Jackson shared. “I have received messages from their o-line coach; they have been pushing for me to get there really hard.”
Camping with the Volunteers last summer has Thurman ready to go back.
“It started off last summer, I went up there for a camp,” Thurman stated. “I did well and balled out. They came back a couple of months ago after talking to my coach; they want me to come back up and go to a camp and for a visit.”
The Blue Devils are making Thurman a priority along the recruiting trail.
“It is about the same as Wake Forest; they are pushing hard,” Thurman said. “I am in communication with them almost every day; my relationship with Duke is good.”
Should Ole Miss pull the trigger on an offer, they have a built-in recruiting edge.
“My whole family, my mom and dad’s side, are split between Ole Miss and Mississippi State; I like being a Rebel,” Thurman shared. “I grew up a fan of Ole Miss.”
