Cal Golden Bears Net Under the Radar 2017 Local LB Paul Scott

The Golden Bears added an under the radar talent on Thursday with a pledge from area linebacker Paul Scott.

Scott has showcased his skills for McClymonds High School over the past two seasons helping the Warriors to a 12-1 mark in 2015. The Warriors are 5-1 so far in 2016 getting into the heart of their Oakland League schedule. Scott is an opportunistic defender specializing in strip tackles. The rangy outside linebacker can drop back in coverage and come up to stop the run.

Cal picked up Scott’s commitment over offers from New Mexico, Colorado State, Northern Colorado and East Carolina.

The early lean on Cal’s 2017 class has been towards defense where at least eight of the commits are slated to play once on campus. Expect to see a push in the trenches on the recruiting trail on both sides of the ball.

The Golden Bears have the No. 46 ranked recruiting class in the nation per Rivals while 247Sports ranks the class No. 47, sixth in the Pac-12.
