Brandon Ramirez has become a threat on both sides of the ball for the San Joaquin Panthers as the three-star athlete has racked up 30 total tackles, three pass break-ups, and one sack at the safety position while adding 482 yards and six touchdowns on 49 carries at running back. Ramirez is one of the team captains and has helped lead his squad to a 4-0 start in 2021.

The 6’0”, 195-pound, playmaker has tremendous speed, strength, and athleticism while also showing good leadership and work ethic both on the field and in the film room.

Already holding two college offers, the 2023 recruit is also drawing interest from numerous big-time programs including Notre Dame and UCLA.

In an exclusive Recruiting News Guru interview, I caught up with Brandon to talk about his tremendous start to 2021 and get an update on his recruiting process.

Interview

Brandon, how is your junior season going thus far?

It is going well. I’m making plays on both sides of the ball.

What areas of your game have improved since last season?

Each week we are growing and getting better as a team. We’re 4-0 going into league play.

What are your strengths on the football field?

My size, speed, and strength. My football IQ from film study and the coaching staff’s game plan each week.

What kind of offense does your team run?

We run a spread.

How do your skills fit into this scheme?

I can run inside or outside the zone. I love running in between the tackles and I also have the speed to get the edge. I can also catch the ball in the passing game when needed.

How do your skills fit into your team’s defensive scheme?

I am versatile. I can play in the box, hold the edge, lock up in man-on-man, and play over the top in zone coverage. I can also get to the QB.

What do you like most about playing running back?

It’s fun. I love scoring touchdowns to help my team win.

What do you like most about playing safety?

I love to hit and tackle.

How would you describe your style of play?

Physical. I love contact and love to grind. I pride myself on winning every rep and making plays to help my team win.

What is your fastest 40-yard dash time?

4.53.

Is there an NFL player that you try to model your game after?

Tyrann Mathieu and Jamal Adams.

How many camps did you attend this past summer?

Two, Sacramento State and Fresno State.

What was your favorite camp and why?

I enjoyed both. I had good performances at both camps.

What schools are showing interest in you at this time?

Washington State, UCLA, Cal, Fresno State, San Diego State, and Air Force. I also receive mail from Arizona, Clemson, and Notre Dame.

I’ve been on unofficial visits to Cal, Fresno State, and UCLA. I also have an unofficial visit in October at Notre Dame.

Do you have any college offers?

Yes, Colorado Buffaloes and Texas Longhorns. I was offered from Texas under the prior coaching staff, unsure where that offer stands with the new coaching staff.

What game left on the schedule are you most looking forward to playing?

I just focus on each game one week at a time. I don’t want to overlook anyone.

What are your goals for the rest of your junior season?

Winning league, winning the Valley, and making a run at state. Individually, doing whatever I can to the best of my abilities to help my team achieve these goals one game at a time.

What is your GPA?

3.9.

Thank you for your time and good luck the rest of the season.

Thank you, sir.
