BRADENTON, Fla. – Have skills will travel, that is the case for 2024 defensive back TreJon Fulton. The ballhawk safety out of Bakersfield’s (Cali.) Liberty High School took his talents to Florida last weekend competing in the Polynesian Bowl Combine held at IMG Academy. The three-star prospect showed why he walked off the field last fall with six impressive picks.
The Patriots’ 13-2 season was capped off hoisting a state championship trophy after downing Pittsburg 48-20 in the title game. Fulton spoke about his breakout junior year.
“It went great,” Fulton said. “We accomplished a lot of things. We won state, and we also won the Valley. For me, I led the team in interceptions (6) and was a leader in tackles with 78. It was a good season.”
The off-season is all about improving upon those skills.
“I am a taller safety (6-3, 165), a taller DB, for me, I am working on keeping my butt down and keeping my leverage down so I can come out of my breaks faster,” Fulton stated. “I am also working on my flexibility and moving better left and right.”
Teams have handed over five offers to Fulton, more interest is coming his way.
“Boise State, Oregon State, I am talking to Vanderbilt, San Jose a little bit, San Diego State, Utah, and Florida State,” Fulton shared.
A handful of visits have been taken this off-season.
“I’ve taken unofficial visits to Oregon State, USC, UNLV, Eastern Washington, and Washington State,” Fulton said.
Hanging in Vegas with the Rebels was a worthwhile trip.
“The visit went great,” Fulton shared. “I like what they got going on there. Coach (Damon) Magazu (DB), he is a great coach. I love that dude.”
The coaches in Corvallis didn’t disappoint during Fulton’s visit with the Beavers.
“Coach Blue (Adams – DB) and coach (Anthony) Perkins (CB) are good guys,” Fulton stated. “That was a great unofficial visit.”
Dates are being set for three more unofficial trips.
“I got Boise State coming up, Vanderbilt, and Utah State,” Fulton said.
The Broncos’ history and legendary turf has Fulton ready to Idaho.
“Boise State is a great program, and I love that blue turf,” Fulton shared.
The interest from the Commodores carries some extra weight.
“Vanderbilt is showing a lot of interest and love,” Fulton said. “I am paying my respect back. They are an SEC school, that is big to me.”
Fulton has secured offers from Akron, Eastern Washington, Idaho, UNLV, and Utah State.
