After impressive back-to-back seasons at Pacifica High School, three-star quarterback Tagg Harrison (6-1, 175) is slinging the pigskin with Westlake High School (Westlake Village, Cali.) this fall. Early offers from Arizona and Louisville were dropped on Harrison, and now new college teams are ready to see the Class of 2025 prospect in action this fall.
Harrison set high expectations during his freshman year throwing for 1,638 yards with 17 touchdowns against varsity competition with the Tritons. Last fall, Harrison showed off the evolving skills adding dual threat into his conversation. Hitting 63 percent of his pass attempts, Harrison produced 1,259 yards with 15 touchdowns in the passing attack and rushed for 249 yards keeping defenses honest.
The Warriors’ offensive scheme can use Harrison’s 11.5 100-meter speed to their advantage outside of the pocket.
“This offense is a very pass heavy offense, which I love,” Harrison said. “It is a Spread, but we run tight ends sometimes. We have big dudes at tight end, which is nice. We have RPOs (run-pass option) going on, which is nice to have, and we have some inside zone reads in case I run which I like.”
Getting extra reps working with Bryan Bennett and Jordan Palmer, Harrison covered the aspects of his game he developed over the summer.
“One of the biggest things was getting a grip on the new offense and being comfortable running it; I think we did a great job of that,” Harrison stated. “In past off-seasons I worked on my throwing form, but lately I haven’t needed to focus on that. It was nice to focus on the field and the mental aspect of the game.”
Asked what some of the attributes to your game are that you feel may get overlooked, Harrison replied, “I think coming into the offseason, after track, I have gotten a lot faster. I am excited to show that on the field as I am becoming more of a dual threat. I think I have a good touch ball, I can put air under it when needed, or I can put it on the line as needed. The mental side of it is a big deal too. You have to be there mentally knowing what is going on.”
On the recruiting trail, Harrison spun it in front of the Arizona coaches this summer.
“I thought I did well,” Harrison shared. “I was able to talk to some of their coaches and see them again; it was cool.”
A wide range of scouts are ready to see Harrison’s film this fall.
“A lot of teams are waiting to see me play this season, some Ivy League and D-I programs,” Harrison said. “Dartmouth, Yale, Fresno State, Arizona, Tennessee is showing a little bit of interest. There are a couple others I can’t think of right now. Northwestern as well; they came out to watch me throw this spring.”
