Throughout his junior season, Taylor Richardson proved to be a sideline-to-sideline defender for Alcovy High School. Coming down against the run or coming over the top to knock away a big pass, Richardson was on the spot for the Tigers against 6A Georgia offenses. This summer, Richardson is getting out to show college programs what they are missing in the 2024 recruit.

Playing centerfield for Alcovy’s defense, Richardson shared the team’s scheme.

“We run a 4-2-5, but we will mix and match depending on the teams we are playing,” Richardson said.

This spring Richardson got extra work against top players in the country suiting up with Grind Factory for 7-on-7 tournaments.

“I felt that it well coverage wise,” Richardson stated. “As an individual, I did my best.”

Richardson continued, “My improvements, I am faster, my hips are faster, and so is my change of direction.”

Recruiting interest is picking up. Middle Tennessee brought Richardson to Murfreesboro so he could learn more about the Blue Raiders.

“It was fun,” Richardson shared. “I liked it. I watched them practice, and I saw how they run everything. I talked to their DB coach (Scott Shafer) and learned what they want in their DBs. He told me they want a guy that will be all about the ball. They want a guy that will fly around and be a dog.”

The Blue Raiders will see Richardson again soon with him ready to show that dog mentality.

“I am going to MTSU’s camp on June 4,” Richardson stated. “On June 11, I will be at Auburn’s camp. I am also camp at Troy and Mercer.”

Richardson filled the stat sheet last fall racking up 47 tackles, five tackles for a loss, and recovered one fumble.
