The Knights snuck into Jacksonville on Thursday luring highly sought after all-purpose back Otis Anderson Jr. to Orlando as part of the 2017 recruiting class.
Central Florida’s first verbal commitment to the 2017 class was a big one on the offensive side of the ball. Anderson helped University Christian to an 11-3 record in 2015 winning a Class 2A state title. Anderson lined up in the backfield and on the outside running sweeps, counters, and end arounds flashing his track speed and amazing agility routinely keeping his feet off failed arm tackles making Florida high school opposition pay for not wrapping up.
The 5-11, 170 pound, athlete has over 20 reported Division-I offers with Illinois, Colorado State, Cincinnati, Oregon State, Northwestern, Washington State, Virginia, Toledo, Western Kentucky, and Iowa State all extending offers. Anderson topped the 1,000 yard rushing mark as a junior earning second team All-State honors.
Anderson posted a quick announcement on Twitter reading, “#UCFast #UCFierce #UCFirstCommit.” He also added, “First I would like to thank God, My parents and all of my past coaches for getting me into this position, I would like to thank ALL of the coaches that have been recruiting me throughout my football career; But I would like to say that I have decided to Further my Education and football career at The University of Central Florida.”
