For the first time since 2014, Cincinnati won the American Athletic Conference Championship to cap off an undefeated regular season getting past Tulsa 27-24 in the championship game. Other key victories for the Bearcats came on Sept. 26 against No. 22 Army (24-10) and Oct. 24 against No. 16 SMU (42-13). In the Peach Bowl, No. 8 Cincinnati suffered their only defeat in 2020 falling to No. 9 Georgia 24-21 on a late field goal for a final record of 9-1.
Over the past four seasons under Head Coach Luke Fickell the Bearcats have dominated the conference and a key to continuing this success is locking up a talented recruiting class. During the December early signing period, Cincinnati secured 24 letters of intent from prospects all over the country all ready to make their mark on this exciting program.
The highest-rated recruit who signed with the Bearcats is three-star athlete Chamon Metayer from Miami (FL). Two future defensive stars who signed in December are three-star linebacker Jack Dingle from Louisville (KY) and three-star defensive end Zeiqui Lawton from Charleston (WV).
A local prospect from Cincinnati who is joining the Bearcats is three-star cornerback Iesa Jarmon who plays at LaSalle. A future starting quarterback for Cincinnati is three-star quarterback Brady Lichtenberg from Toledo (OH).
This recruiting class currently ranks first in the American Athletic Conference and 42nd in the nation. It will be exciting to watch if this recruiting class can help the Bearcats win back-to-back conference championships for the first time since 2011-12.
