Put him at any skill position on the gridiron and he will succeed. Over at Ocoee High School (Fla.), the Knights have a three-way game changer in Class of 2025 athlete Joshua Guerrier. Midway through the Knights’ 2023 season, Guerrier has applied his craft to the game again but at an even higher level bringing 11 offers his way.
Guerrier (5-11, 168) has five receptions for 63 yards thus far and has shined in other areas impacting the game. He has taken two kicks back to the house and registered a pick-six with 25 tackles.
Given all that he does on the field, Guerrier was asked which position is his best or if there’s one he likes more than the other.
“Not really,” Guerrier said. “I love every position. I feel I am good at every position, and I have no limits; I can play anywhere.”
His talents on offense are on the rise.
“On offense, I am known as a defensive player, I have improved on that side of the ball with my blocking, running routes, catching, and stuff like that,” Guerrier stated.
Next level scouts have Guerrier in the secondary, all except for one so far.
“Teams are recruiting me to play safety and nickel,” Guerrier shared. “Cincinnati is recruiting me as a receiver.”
Some of the 11 scholarship opportunities to come the three-star’s way include Tennessee, Marshall, Louisville, Kentucky, Iowa State, Iowa, Illinois, and Cincinnati. Some ACC teams may throw their opportunity into the ring soon.
“Pitt showing the most interest,” Guerrier said. “Wake Forest and Duke are also showing interest.”
The Volunteers are one of the teams keeping strong contact with Guerrier. They got their target on campus over the summer; Guerrier updated the rapport in Knoxville.
“It is good,” Guerrier shared. “Coach (Robert) Ayers (GA) and coach (Willie) Martinez (DB) are the two talking to me the most. Coach BJ (Brian Jean-Mary) is the one who offered me. I was in Atlanta for a camp, coach BJ introduced me to coach Martinez.”
Reflecting on the visit to Knoxville, Guerrier added, “I loved it. Tennessee is a big school. Everything is big; it is in the SEC. It is beautiful there, and with the mountains. That was my first-time seeing mountains.”
For his next visit, Guerrier will be at Nippert Stadium to see the Bearcats take on the visiting Cyclones.
“I am going to Cincinnati on Oct. 14,” Guerrier stated. “This spring, I will probably visit Iowa. Iowa is showing interest in me too.”
The relationship with the Bearcats’ staff was covered.
“It is cool,” Guerrier said. “I have a lot of communication with coach Cass (Simmons), their director of recruiting (strategy). I love how they are keeping in contact with me and building a relationship.”
Guerrier shared his excitement for visiting the Bearcats, “I want to see the atmosphere, see how Cincinnati is, and I want to see how they will treat me in person.”
Asked what he is liking about his overall recruiting process, Guerrier responded with, “I love how they show interest in me, how they want to get to know me and get to know me as a player, and learn how I would fit in their program.”
