Clemson Lands another 2017 Recruit, Pulls Big OT Noah DeHond out of Jersey
Written by Ryan Wright
When Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney and co-offensive coordinators Tony Elliot and Jeff Scott brag to their friends about pulling a big recruit out of Hightstown, New Jersey, they are being both figurative and literal at the same time. On Monday the Tigers secured their second consecutive Class of 2017 recruit receiving a verbal from 4-star offensive tackle Noah DeHond.
DeHond is a mountain of a young man listed at 6’7”, 315 pounds. The Peddie School star already has 20 scholarship offers from some of the top schools in the nation. The college recruiters tripping over themselves to get to DeHond included Miami, Arkansas, Pitt, Purdue, Buffalo, Louisville, South Carolina, Temple, Rutgers, UCLA, Wisconsin, Virginia Tech, and Virginia among others.
The recruiting process was not lost on DeHond. During the offseason he camped at Ohio State and Penn State and in the month of August visited Alabama, Clemson, and North Carolina. Before making his verbal commitment Monday night there was no surprise when the potential cornerstone left tackle narrowed down his potential suitors to Alabama, Clemson, and North Carolina.
On Sunday Clemson locked down their first recruit for their 2017 recruiting class when Calhoun High School (Calhoun, GA) safety Baylon Spector went with the Tigers. Spector (6’3”, 200) projects as a safety or an outside linebacker at the next level.
